Customers always come first, but a close second is our main lady Jennay Oliver. With her keen farmer senses, and strength of will, we made it out the other seasonal side alive. How she gets so much done with such grace I'll never know; long story short she's my idol.
Then there's the farm staff. Pulling weeds and picking tomatoes ain't no joke people. There aren't enough yoga classes in the world that can help stretch that pain away. Those who work in the orchards and fields are of a different sorts; they handle pain and hard work in ways that is borderline un-human. Some of those hardcores include: Diane, who later traded shirts and worked in the fruit stand, organizer extraordinaire and professional at getting it DONE! Nicole, who came back to us from Ontario cause the fruit is just that much better here. Your laughter and willingness to help is epic. Kyle and Jess, who tried to escape and ended up coming back because the pull of the fruit stand knows no bounds. Fred and Bob, a team with a capital T always and working till the last drop. Robert and Howie, bringing the flavor of Europe with their awesomeness. Jana, never fails to bless us with her presence and fantastic energy. Who doesn't love a good German, right? Tim, who joined us for the end of the season and added a great energy to the crowd. It's amazing how lucky we are to have attracted such great staff to our farm.
In the market we managed to hold on to some of the old guard: Lisa, who is a rock star and has been with us for too many seasons to put on a public forum. Without her we would have lost our way. Melissa, who did all the ordering and made sure our shelves were stocked like a champ. We have her to thank for Red Velvet ice cream and Lemon Pie; she brings joy to the taste-buds of many. Steph, who despite working full time elsewhere, is always there to help us when we need it most. She's cute as a button but tough as nails; don't mistake her pint size appearance as weakness. Dalana, also known as D-unit, the cream of the crop, the rock star of sorting. Serina, ruler of the blogs and website, never afraid to toot her own horn apparently. Sam A, one of the only returning male staff. I think that says enough about his strength of character. M.C, returnee of many years. Even through injury she still blessed us with her presence. Molly, cute as a puppy and always ready to chit-chat. Sam B, one of the few fruit stand troopers who is always asking for more tasks to accomplish. Bless your heart on those busy days Sam B.
New staff include: Olivia, sassy and classy all in one. Kyle, quiet but deceptively efficient. Jessica, the friendliest person I have ever met. Seriously. Zoe, from your first school tour with Jennay you were hooked. Ben, happy even when washing gourds. Simply amazing. Kristen, perfect in every way. Corrie, the savior of fall, the queen of clean. Your addition to the team filled an empty space where a ginger needed to be. We are so happy to have had you all with us for the ups, and maybe some minor downs, of the fruit stand.
For all the deliciousness of the season, and the smiles and laughter, we are grateful. Have a great winter, and see you next year!
