So what does this mean for farmers in the Okanagan? It means that we are all going to be a little bit busier earlier than expected. And it also means that you, the consumer, will have to be on your toes or miss your favorite fruit. How do you do this? Well one way is to follow us on Instagram @payntersfruitmarket, on Twitter @payntersmarket, or to like us on Facebook. We do our best to post when we get items in that may be new or in abundance. We get really excited about new produce, so it's pretty much a guarantee that we will post something ALL IN CAPS.
It is important to note that we are not the only farmers to be affected by the early spring. Farms in Abbotsford and Delta have been affected, and therefore, our berries have been coming in at different times. If you don't want to miss out, we suggest making earlier plans for freezing and jam time. As well, we've been picking items from our garden much earlier! Veggies like the beloved pickling cucumber are in abundance as we speak!
The moral of the story is this: there is no way we are going to "ease into" this season; it's a full speed ahead year!
